Behind Jubilee Fiesta: Building a Legacy
In San Antonio, Fiesta is more than a celebration; it is a cherished tradition uniting communities and celebrating vibrant culture. At Jubilee Academies, we believe in embracing tradition while empowering our students to showcase their talents and academia. Although cross-departmental efforts are consistently made to enrich the Jubilee student experience, including during the Fiesta season, this year marks the first official, formalized Jubilee Academies Annual Fiesta Medal Design Competition organized by our Career Technical Education program and our District Marketing and Communications team.
The competition offers students a platform to showcase their artistic skills and creativity by designing a medal inspired by their experience as a Jubilee Academies student and local San Antonioan! Students who participated were prompted to create meaningful medal designs, capturing the essence of the festival and Jubilee Academies using Adobe Illustrator. Adobe Illustrator is a program professional graphic designers use to create designs. Students submitted illustrator, vector, or PNG files in color and black and white, along with a brief paragraph elaborating on the inspiration for their design.
Through the efforts of CTE educators, the Marketing and Communications district team received roughly 30 competition entries. Choosing a winner was particularly challenging as there were plenty of outstanding designs submitted. Ultimately, the top three finalists were selected based on their technical proficiency, color scheme, and creativity. The District conducted an internal poll to determine the winning design, Miranda Chiquillo. Ava Alaquinez was a close second. The third-place design by Jacob Carvajal was hand-selected by Jubilee Academies CEO, Tom Koger, as CEO's Choice.
When you purchase a Fiesta medal from Jubilee Academies, you invest in the future of our students and support a legacy deeply rooted in San Antonio's history.
